9/26/79 Dan Tanna seeks the reason for the mysterious disappearance of Roth and J.T. Rodmore's takeover of Roth's business empire. While Bea and Binzer check out Rodmore, Tanna tracks Roth's previous day activities. He discovers that Roth did indeed sign over his business interests, and that he flew to Washington, D.C. afterward. Rodmore is revealed as a prominent Washington attorney who was once groomed for the Senate but was rejected when his brother (Roth) was linked to a plot to overthrow and Kill Fidel Castro. Rodmore's vengeance in stealing and using top security information as blackmail to gain control of Roth's business prevents Roth from resisting their illegal activities of his crooked brother. Dan assists Roth in getting back the information from Rodmore who shoots his brother when captured and escapes. Roth is o.k. since he wore a bullet proof vest. 25. MIXED BLESSINGS
10/3/79 Sister Bridget Callahan hires Dan Tanna to help find the stolen cross of Caceres. The Sister suspects that Jimmy Potter, a young drug addict, has come to Las Vegas to sell the ruby-studded gold-leaf cross. Dan and Bridget search through pawn shops for information when an unseen gunman opens fire. Dan and Bridget escape the barrage of shots but Bridget's purse containing all of her expense money is stolen. She promptly wins the very amount stolen back at the black jack tables and continues to search for the cross. Dan discovers a wealthy recluse Caceres, Spain, and learns that he has sent a representative named Rico to get the cross. Dan is late in meeting Jimmy and the police find the man unconscious from a bullet wound. When Rico realizes that Jimmy lied about the location of the cross, he kidnaps Bridget and phones Dan giving him the ultimatum. Jimmy tells Dan where the cross is; Rico follows Dan to the location (a church) and in the confrontation, Dan recovers the cross, returning it to a grateful Sister Bridget Callahan. w. 10/24/79 Kentucky rancher Caleb Tucker hires Dan Tanna to find Ally, his pregnant runaway teenage daughter. Tanna just misses Ally at the clinic where runaways and expectant mother out of wedlock gather. There he learns of a pharmacist she was referred to and finds the girl. Dan gains her confidence and takes her home and calls Tucker. But when Tucker arrives with two armed thugs, Dan realizes he isn't the girl's father. Tucker is after a black book containing counterfeit bill code numbers that Ally and her boyfriend found in the gangster's car. Tommy, Ally's beau, had been tortured to death and screamed Ally's name before dying. Leaving Dan and Binzer to be killed by one of his gunmen, Tucker takes Ally to an abandoned hotel where the book is supposedly hidden. Lt Nelson rescues Dan and Binzer. Tanna rushes to go save Ally. The excitement causes Ally to go into labor and Dan helps deliver the baby. w. Leo Garen d. 27. DESIGN FOR DEATH
10/31/79 When swimwear fashion models who work for designer Sara Bancroft are terrorized, Dan is called to investigate. One of the swimsuit models, Holly, is an old flame of Dan's. An important diamond courier, George Crowley, is scheduled to be arriving at the Desert Inn Hotel at the same time of the fashion show. Tom Bancroft, Sara's photographer, survives a fire in his office. Dan and Holly, while out on a date, stop by Tom's office to make a delivery and Dan puts the fire out. Afterward, one of the saboteurs kills Holly, sending Dan into a rage. He is determined to solve the crime. Dan is lured to the Yucca Canyon Camp Grounds by the saboteurs and is shot from a distance by a rifle and left for dead. Luckily, for Dan, the bullet just crazed his left leg. Back on the case, Dan begins to realize that with hotel security concerned about the fashion show, the diamond courier will be virtually unprotected. Dan revisits Tom Bancroft, still suspicious about the fire, he tells Dan of the plan. Dan gets to the Desert Inn just in time to catch the crooks. Crowley, it turns out, was the mastermind behind the heist. Sara Bancroft's fashion show is a great success. w. Ken Pettus d. 28. SHADOW ON A STAR
11/14/79 Superstar Diana Payne arrives a day early for her engagement in Las Vegas. Dan Tanna is called when Diana, who won't come out of her room, requests a private investigator. She tells Dan that she was attacked and raped. She also wants Dan to keep the press and police out of it. Dan convinces her that in order to capture the rapist, the police will have to be involved. He tells her of Lt. Nelson and promises her that the press will not find out. She reluctantly agrees. Dan checks with the local rape clinic and learns by his habits that this rapist attacks his victims again. The attacker is suspected to be one of the security officers assigned to protect Diana. The rapist tries to rape a sleeping Diana Payne again but is thwarted when Tanna arrives on the scene. Dan finds Latimer and the other security officer drugged, freeing them from suspicion. An earlier victim, Judy Charles, gives Tanna clues to rapist's identity. Tanna and Lt. Nelson compare notes and, again, Latimer turns up the prime suspect. They return to the hotel and discover Latimer has taken Diana hostage. A chase ensues and Latimer is pummeled by Dan. Diana aggress to testify to put Latimer away for good. w. 29. DAN TANNA IS DEAD

PICTURE Convict Dr. Victor Durrand escapes a minimum security prison to seek revenge on Dan Tanna. Durrand steals a vial of poisonous African killer bee venom from a top secret research facility. He places a cactus needle dipped in the venom on the lock of Tanna's locker at the health club. The effects of the venom show a deterioration of red blood cells and Tanna is expected to live only 23 hours. There is no antidote without the venom and Tanna immediately begins to show signs of paralysis. Durrand follows and contacts Tanna by phone and written messages, forcing Dan to recall who his tormentor is. Tanna had exposed Durrand's phony cancer cure clinic, and traces Durrand to the minimum security prison where Carney Hendricks tells of Durrand's motel hideout. But he is no found, and with time running out, Tanna comes up with a plan to lure Durrand to his deathbed. Thinking Dan is blind and paralyzed, Durrand approaches, only to break the vial of venom against the wall when Tanna lashes out at him. Dan knocks Durrand out, and Binzer picks up a small piece of glass containing the venom. An antidote is prepared and Tanna's life is saved, allowing him to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner with his friends. w. Dallas L. Barnes d. 30. MACHO MURDERS
11/28/79 When the circumstances surrounding the murder of a pimp and "planted" evidence clearly implicate feminist activist Virginia Marshall, Dan is hired by attorney J.D. Fenton to handle the case. Dan suspects Freddie the loan shark because the pimp owed Freddie thousands of dollars. Virginia is out on bail when a second murder occurs and is implicated again. Then a third murder. Dan investigates Virginia's activities within the feminist group. He learns that she has blackmailed men and that her activities have kept her group in the media causing her book sales to skyrocket. Dan puts two and two together and concludes that she has probably murdered to keep herself in the press to follow her further. Finally, he just lets Virginia go to jail for the killings she committed and, from her point of view, the plan backfires and she's caught in her own trap. w. David P. Harmon d. 12/12/79 Dan is called when the Desert Inn casino shows an overage in gambling chips totaling $2 million. Dan orders the casino closed until the source of the counterfeit chips is discovered. Chip manufacturing clerk, Eddie Stolvak, is found dead; Tanna is setup as the counterfeiter and murderer and is subsequently arrested. Lt. Nelson arranges for Tanna's release and he tracks down Sumner's son, Brad. Sumner, the owner of the chip manufacturing company which employed Stolvak, thought he had lost his son a year earlier. But Brad faked his own death in order to arrange the chip duplication scheme. Sumner decides to kill his own son but Tanna arrives in time to avert the shooting and apprehends Brad. w. Robert E. 12/19/79 Classic car mechanic Wells Tate is found dead. Dan investigates but comes up against Laurie Turner, an agent of the Drug Enforcement Agency. Together, they unwind the intricate story of Tate's involvement in a heroin smuggling scheme using the sale of classic cars. Justin Marsh, former race car driver and friend of Dan's, obtains the old autos which are then used to store heroin for transportation. Tate had refused to purchase a car and was killed because he knew too much. Dan and Laurie use government money to outbid drug mastermind Arthur Rollins. The ringleader attempts to remove the heroin supply from the classic car when it is parked in the garage of Laurie's rented house and is arrested. Dan goes after his friend Justin. 1/2/80 Three separate murders occur during a convention of private investigators. All of the murder victims had been vying for a million dollar kidnap bounty. Tanna questions Charlotte Henderson because she had been in competition with the victims for the million. Tanna's suspicions change though when Charlotte Henderson barely escapes death from her in room sauna's heat and locked door. Tanna rescues her by shooting the door handle off. They learn that Jack Prescott is behind the killing. Prescott is driving Charlotte out to the desert to kill her when Tanna and Lt. Nelson appear to save the day in a wild car chase. w. 1/9/80 Binzer becomes involved with a hypnotist, Paula Conway, in a self improvement program. Unbeknown to Binzer, he is falling into a scheme to kill basketball player Calvin Tate. Tanna becomes suspicious when Binzer can't recall his last two days and evidence points to his presence at a construction site robbery of explosives. Binzer is programmed to carry and detonate a bomb while standing next to Tate. Tanna finds Conway dead-and captures Rich Farley at the scene. Based on information from Farley, Dan races to the stadium with only minutes to spare. Dan grapples with Binzer and disarms him. 1/16/80 When war buddy Mitch Costigan, a current Las Vegas performer, loses his wife in a bombing incident meant for him, Dan joins the search for the murderer. In Lt. Nelson's office, Dixon, a bomb expert, reports the bombs design-it was similar to those used by the Viet Cong-made with dung. Tanna and Costigan suspect vengeful Marine buddies. Further, they learn that Vietnam bomb specialist Verne Ryder is in town. Mitch had reported Ryder's heroin smuggling racket in Vietnam and the man is fresh out of prison for the crime. Tanna arrives at the performance of Mitch Costigan's show just in time to prevent Ryder from assassinating him with a lethal dart gun. 1/23/80 Dan explodes in anger when he realizes that Bea's fiancé was suspected in a murder case years ago. Bea adamantly defends her decision to marry Drew Marley and tells Dan not to show up at her wedding. Tanna has Binzer and Lt. Nelson check on Marley's background while he investigates further. He discovers that Bea's attorney, Dick Luther, and Marley spent time tracking down beneficiaries of great wealth and then conning their way into family fortunes. A wealthy Uncle has left two million to Bea's daughter. Dan's efforts to gather enough evidence to arrest Marley falls through so Dan bluffs Marley and Luther into thinking a witness has been found to identify Marley as a murderer. 1/30/80 Dan is scheduled to present evidence to the State Gaming Board Commission that would present mobster Marty Gleaver from obtaining a gaming license. The night before the hearing, Tanna and his good friend Mitch Costigan, attend the opening of the Zorav Sister's magic show. Gleaver blackmails the sisters to abduct Costigan to prevent Tanna from exposing his criminal ties. Gleaver's thugs hold Costigan captive in an ice factory, giving Tanna twenty-four hours to exchange the evidence for Costigan. Tanna finds the Zorav sisters murdered and prepares to follow Gleaver's instructions. But when Costigan codes Dan to his location, Tanna and Binzer pull an ingenious switch allowing Tanna to arrive at the ice factory, dispose of the thugs, rescue Costigan and eliminate Gleaver, who falls to his death from the top of the factory. w. 2/6/80 Three girl dancers seen to have an impossible winning streak at Baccarat but when the card dealer is found dead, Dan enters the case to find World famous detective Nicholas Rambeau interested in the casino also. While Binzer and Bea check the background of people involved, Tanna discusses the case with Rambeau. Texas gambler Everett Mason confronts the girls Tanya, Loyal and Michelle with his knowledge of the murder and demands a split of the winnings. Michelle arranges a rendezvous with Rambeau where a shootout occurs and Mason is killed. Binzer and Bea discover that Rambeau's brother-in-law was killed in a French card game plant and that he has been following the girls around the world from casino to casino. Rambeau confronts the girls and demands a split of the money. Tanna figures out the marked cards and chases the group to the airport where Dan fights with Michelle (who is found to be a man) and knocks her out. Tanna returns to confront Rambeau as he stands with a suitcase full of money by his side and claims to only want enough to comfort him in his old age. w. James Schermerer d. PICTURE A group of wealthy international casino owners gather in Las Vegas to organize a consortium to purchase a Toronto casino. Dan's brother-in-law, Paul Bracken, is the top candidate to head the group, but when a call girl is found dead in Dan's bed, Bracken asks Tanna to keep the news from the press for fear of drawing attention to the groups investors. Binzer checks the backgrounds of the casino owners while Dan investigates further. Although Paul provided the call girls for the investors' entertainment, he has no clues to help Dan. Then another call girl is found dead in Tanna's car. Lt. Nelson demands to intercede with the investigation. Dan agrees but only after Bea volunteers to lure the killers as a decoy. Dan escorts Bea to the celebration party where casino owner Mel Blandon orders his bodyguard, Kenny, to dispose of Bea. Kenny threatens Bea with the murder of her daughter is she doesn't cooperate. She quietly leaves without alerting anybody. Tanna realizes Bea has mysteriously disappeared, tracks down Kenny and Bea in the service hallways under the casino and kills Kenny with pinpoint shooting. Dan then confronts Mel who had wanted to discredit Paul with the murders thus allowing himself to be selected head of the consortium and privy to casino funds. 3/5/80 Gun dealer Simon Webster gets set to avenge his son's death. His son was shot by Lt. Nelson during a robbery attempt three years earlier and was left in a vegetative state. Webster's son is taken off of life support and the vendetta begins. Webster threatens and terrorizes Nelson's family. Rejecting Dan's help, Nelson continues to investigate on his own. Dan soon convinces Nelson that they should work together. Webster throws a mannequin from an overpass onto a car that Nelson is driving and which Dan is a passenger. Dan is knocked unconscious. When he comes to, he wants to know where Nelson is. The paramedics tell him that Nelson said the dummy gave him the clue he needed. Dan finds out from Nelson's mother about Webster's son. Dan rushes to the Frontier Hotel and arrives in time to see Webster berating Nelson hysterically. Dan, diverting Webster's erratic gunfire, allows Nelson to subdue and apprehend the crazed man. w. E. 41. THE MAN WHO WAS TWICE
3/12/80 Female impersonator Jeremy Welles has received continuous death threats that manager Robyn Andrews have disregarded until a grotesque head (a Jeremy look-alike) falls out of the dressing room refrigerator. Dan is called in to investigate. Tanna is threatened too-warned on tape to stay out of the case by a "Mr. Martin." He suspects the tape was produced at a disco owned by Jeremy's former manager, Simon Baldwin. Dan learns that Welles blamed himself for his sister's death. Then Welles is attacked on stage during a black-out. Binzer learns of an address where the threats are coming from. Tanna realizes that Welles has been threatening himself-a split personality caused by the sister's death. Tanna chases Welles to the rafters of the stage. He grabs Welles as he jumps and prevents him from jumping to his death. w. Judy Burns d. Alf J. 42. GOLDEN GATE COP KILLER
(or Ladies In Blue) 2 hours 3/19/80 When San Francisco cop and old friend, Sam Ullman, is the forth target for murder, Dan investigates. Traveling to San Francisco, his only evidence is a series of clever poems addressed to the police, predicting when and where the next victim will be killed. When Tanna follows a lead he runs into officers Britt Blackwell and Cassandra Hunt whom he first met in Las Vegas. Tanna is suspected in the case but Lt. Nelson vouches for him, allowing Tanna in on some of the case details. While at Ullman's funeral, another cop is ambushed, Cassandra recognizes a hoodlum at the shootout scene and Dan launches a search through the back streets. They find and chase the suspect, Red Dixon, into a trolley barn where Cassandra shoots and kill Dixon. Then another rhyme is sent to authorities, and despite a stakeout, another officer is killed and the suspect gets away. While having dinner with Cassandra, Dan realizes the pattern of the poems and discovers a sequence of numbers which match a slain officers badge numbers. Further investigation reveals that the killed officer's son, Derek, is a police department vending machine serviceman. The boy, they learn, has a history of mental disorders since his father death and mother's subsequent suicide. Upon inspection of Derek's apartment, Dan and Cassandra learn find a cache of weapons and photographs of his victims whose first name initials spell "Columbus" - referring to the street where his father was killed. Tanna learns that the boy still needs a "B" to complete the spelling and Britt's photo was included in the findings. Dan and Cassandra rush to a party in time to follow Derek and Britt to a warehouse. Dan and Cassandra approach gingerly and, as Derek is distracted by their noises, Britt disarms him and chases him as he escapes. Britt has the chance for vengeance but rejects the idea and arrests Derek. w. Robert Earll & Judy Burns d. The thugs are surrounded but escape into the showroom where they take showgirls, including Bea, as hostages. They retreat to a penthouse suite in the Wimbledon Towers section of the Desert Inn. They demand $5 million and no interference of their escape. They kill a showgirl as an example and give Lt. Nelson and Dan twenty-four hours to deliver, or more girls will die. Dan's first rescue attempt is unsuccessful and the leader, Zinberg, threatens to kill Bea if his demands aren't met. Tanna schemes to assist the S.W.A.T. team in the escape helicopter. Once the hostages are safely away, Tanna fights and KO's one of the thugs and pursues Zinberg on a motorcycle. Zinberg tries to loose Dan inside of the Barbary Coast casino. However, Dan rides the motorcycle into the casino and corners Zinberg against a slot machine. w. Larry Forrester d. 5/7/80 Dan investigates the mysterious overdose death of friend and restaurant owner Carlo Moretti. A goblet with the infamous family design is known to curse its beholder and it's believed that Moretti died from the effect of the curse. But when a second goblet and subsequent death of Carlo Moretti Jr. occurs, Dan's investigation develops into suspicions about Angela Moretti's fiancé, Gino, whose father committed suicide when Bruno Moretti dissolved their partnership years ago.
